Baby Piper's Nursery

Mar 10, 2016

Conceptualizing and implementing our baby's nursery was both an exciting (and daunting!) task. Our goal was to create a space that flowed well with the rest of our home and was sweet without being too saccharine for our delivery surprise.

Drawing inspiration from Pinterest, I created a moodboard from countless ideas (favorites: Love Taza + Cupcakes and Cashmere). We cleared out our then guest bedroom and set off into a creative journey filled with education (who knew babies need some many things?), countless tubs of spackle, loads of paint (Walls: Behr -- New House White/Fireplace: Behr -- Evening White), primer, design dilemmas (i.e. my epic failed attempt at stenciling), and a rogue chimney leak that tripled Mark's spackle/sand/prime/paint tasks.

The dresser is Mark's from childhood that I sanded and painted (Home Decorators Collection -- Island Oasis), replaced the knobs and added drawer liners: 1/2/3 (similar).

Crib + Mattress//Glider + Footrest (similar)

My sister Jennifer made both quilts (mad talent, that one), Mark made the ladder bookshelf (or so he claims) circa 2007, and I youtubed how to "train" curtains so they lie flat against the wall.

Nesters gonna nest...

I can't even with the cutest of those Babiators. And, thanks to our baby shower guests we have a bookshelf full of stories to spark our little one's imagination and I love reading the little notes written in the covers -- each book was a childhood/family favorite, making reading even more special.

The wood print (one of our engagement photos) was a gift from Jennifer that fit perfectly in the nursery. She also did the larger wood print from our wedding hanging in our living room.

There are still a few finishing touches in progress while we await our little peanut's arrival (in THIRTEEN(ish) DAYS): hanging these hooks, completing the hamper (full description, here) and laundry. Because there is always laundry to do. Always.
