Holidays + Year in Review: 2022

For Christmas this year, our family leaned into life as expats and took our first holiday trip. We made our first long distance road-trip to Courchevel, France to ski for a few days, then stopped in Geneva to explore before heading home. To boot, we were able to see a bit of family - we’ve been fortunate enough to have family visit throughout the year and for that we are endlessly grateful.

Christmas amidst the snow capped mountains under the tree in our room (our hotel left no holiday stone unturned), and the smell of fresh baked cinnamon rolls wafting through the air made our first Christmas morning away from home a special one.

On New Years Eve we donned our comfy clothes, held our first annual “family game night” with a heated game of Children’s Monopoly and Paw Patrol. We prepared two new recipes, Cacio e Pepe and Amatriciana - along with garlic bread and salad. For dessert, we tried our hands at chocolate fondue (via stove-top double broiler method), the perfect way to utilize all the chocolate Santa’s from the season. Nary a Piper stayed awake to see 2022 turn to 2023, save for the few moments I woke up to the sounds of fireworks and mercifully fell back asleep.
